I am a second year MA student in East Asian Languages and Cultures. Though I am still exploring various topics in the field, I am especially interested in learning about South Korean missionary kids (MKs). I am interested in asking questions such as 1) how do they justify their stand as MKs, who do not necessarily have the calling to serve and live as missionaries, but are placed in a position where they are directly and indirectly influenced by their parents’ lives as missionaries? and 2) How do Korean MKs reconcile their personal experiences with the demands of reality (i.e., as subjects of a neoliberal society, mature Christians etc.)?
